Mary Fitzgerald

Mary Fitzgerald is a Non-Resident Scholar at the Middle East Institute in Washington DC specialising in North Africa and wider EU-MENA relations. She has worked for the International Crisis Group, the United States Institute of Peace and the European Council on Foreign Relations among others. Her writing has appeared in the Economist, Foreign Policy, the New Yorker, the Financial Times, and the Guardian. 

Mary is an associate fellow at ISCR, King’s College London, LUISS in Rome and ISPI in Milan. She is a board member at Friends of Europe in Brussels. Previously a journalist, she served as the Irish Times foreign affairs correspondent until 2014. She lives in Marseille, France.
