Paul Greatbatch

Paul Greatbatch was a Partner & Portfolio Manager at Genesis Investment Management from 1994-2013, one the oldest specialist managers operating in Emerging Markets on behalf of large institutional clients. During that time his investment responsibilities included the CEE region, South Korea, Mexico, Brazil and Kenya.


From 1990-1994 he lived in Budapest during the transition era, where he worked as an economics consultant and was one of the founders of Concorde Securities, Hungary’s leading independent financial firm. Previously, from 1980, he had been a US specialist at Merrill Lynch & Co, Dean Witter and Prudential Securities.


Since leaving Genesis in 2013, he has been a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Political Economy of King’s College, London where he gives talks and organises events on subjects related to finance and economics.

A resident of Hay-on-Wye on the England-Wales border, where he and his wife own a leading bookshop, Paul has been part of the team which restored Hay Castle and transformed it into a leading venue for the arts and learning.
