How have the traditional media of newspapers and broadcasters adapted to the Internet Age? The answer is mixed. Facebook, Twitter and Google are just some of the behemoths who have not just monstered the advertising revenues of the legacy media but are now emerging as threats to freedom and democracy itself. They use behaviour modifying algorithms, mass data capture and surveillance to sell behavioural information to the highest bidder and spend billions avoiding oversight and regulation. How do we fix this?
