Can we afford it? Can we afford not to? Northern Ireland costs the UK Exchequer more than €10 billion a year, has a huge public sector and has much lower social welfare rates than the Republic. On the other hand, cross-border post-Brexit trade is booming and there could be huge benefits to an integrated all-island economy.
