The Western World has now seen a decade of austerity – a response to a financial crash caused by untrammelled greed, lax regulation and the all-consuming need for ever greater profits. The fact that the people who caused the crash are still in power and prescribing those harsh and unfair solutions has stoked a bonfire of righteous anger across the world. Many say that capitalism needs a reset and that perhaps this anger can be converted into an energy that can redress the balance. But how do we remould a global system that has inequality baked in?
